Hi friends! As you may have noticed, empanadas ¡dpm! is on a bit of a hiatus as we focus on other projects this fall. Clara’s writing for Serious Eats now, and is deep into projects with vvitalny, and Dan’s on the road with The Stepkids much of the time.
We’re going to lay low on the organized market+party scene for now. But, we love to make food – especially empanadas!! – so reach out if you’re looking for a personal order. And we’ll be back in action come holiday time!
In the meantime, you can keep up with food and travel adventures over on our ¡dpm! inspired blog, ¡dpm! does.
¡dpm! joins 3rd Ward January 26th for their next Wind Up! It’s a great opportunity to learn about the 3rd Ward community, meet and network with interesting folks, and have fun! There will be entertaining presentations from some 3rd Ward members & teachers, empanadas from yours truly, and free beer.
Thursday, January 26
7:30 – 9:30 pm
195 Morgan Ave, Brooklyn, NY
RSVP at www.3rdward.com/rsvp
Have you checked out the ¡dpm! does blog, yet? There you can read about our adventures on the west coast, in Paris, and cooking in a commercial kitchen. Or try out some of the recipes keeping us busy lately, like dulce de membrillo, fresh mint ice cream, and fruit galettes (and let us know what you think!)
And here’s a sneak peak of our latest adventure:
It’s a new take on dinner & a movie! Join Moviehouse and ¡dpm! Sunday, November 13th for empanadas and a screening by Kinetic Cinema, featuring several short videos that explore the intersection of dance and film through the lens of guest curators that are artists themselves. A Q&A with filmmakers will follow.

At 3rd Ward (195 Morgan Ave, Brooklyn)
CrestFest was a blast last Saturday! Sunny day, great music, lots of community love and a hardware store-full of quirky, incredible art. Luckily, we had a tent this year, so no baking in the sun.

happy ¡dpm! / self-portrait customers?
We had fun hanging out with our neighbors, Jakada Juice & BiteMe Cheesecake. We’ll be honest, the best part of markets is meeting and sampling the tasty wares of other foodies. Like this mini meringue cheesecake by BiteMe. MUY rico.
Andy Lin’s self-portrait photo booth was – awesomely – set up right next to us, providing endless entertainment all afternoon.
And here are some of our favorite pieces from the show:
The show in the hardware store is up for six weeks. Be sure to swing by and check it out!
¡dpm! is joining our fabulous friends the International Contemporary Ensemble on June 28 for their Summer Benefit Party at the Delancey. There will be exclusive ICE performances, dance music by DJ Phil Moffa & Performance Artist Du Yun, four open bars (!) and tasty food by…us! ICE is doing some pretty exciting stuff in new music these days – join us in supporting their fantastic work, and have fun while you’re at it. Benefit tickets here.
We caught up with the folks over at ICE last week. Hear what’s in store by listening to their ICEcast podcast!
Don’t forget: CrestFest is this Saturday from 1-7pm at Crest Hardware Store (558 Metropolitan Ave, L to Lorimer). Even the New Yorker folks think you should go!
See you out there!
